FAQ

  • A relay team is made up of two or more individuals.
  •  Only one member of the team is required to have a Triathlon Ireland membership or have a One Day Membership. To enter each member needs to at least have a site user account.
  • Only one member of the team is required to pick up their race pack on the morning of the race.
  • During the race, team members waiting in transition must wait in the relay section until their teammate has finished the last section and handed over the timing chip. Cyclists wait in transition 1, runners wait in transition 2.
  • Check in and race pack collection opens at 6:30am and closes at 8:45am
  • Transition areas open at 6:30am and close just after 9am
  • Race briefing will be at 9:15am by transition 1
  • Start time for the wave 1 of the race will be at 9:30
  • Race Cutoff is 2pm. All competitors must be off of the course by this time.
  • When checking in you will be required to have your Triathlon Ireland membership ready for inspection or have a photo ID and your One Day Membership
  • For Relay teams, the member that has the membership or ODM is required to check in
  • At check in you will be given your race pack which contains your swim hat, timing chip, stickers for the bike and paper number for the run. If you require safety pins for the run number, please ask the staff member when collecting the race pack.
  • If you have a medical condition and would like to indicate that on your swim hat our staff will have markers for this, please ask.
  • If you are particularly nervous about the swim section, please ask at registration for a white swim hat. This is to aid the swim marshals. As there are only a limited number of these please only ask if you are a very nervous or weak swimmer so that we have enough for everyone who needs them.
  • Tri the Hook is a Sprint Triathlon
  • The distances are 750m Swim, 20km Cycle, 5km run
  • There are two transition areas in operation for this race. They are located approx. 700m apart so allow for extra time for setup.
  • Transition 2 is located next to the car parking field and is the Cycle to Run transition
  • Swim to Cycle transition is just above Baginbun Beach
  • Medals and goodies will be available to athletes at the finish line
  • Please ensure you collect yours before you leave.
  • Preliminary results will be calculated directly after the race
  • Stay around for the award ceremony as prizes not collected on race day may not be available after
  • Full results will be available on the website of our timing provider Red Tag Timing once verified (http://redtagtiming.com/)
  • The area around the transitions, run route, Finish and parking is covered by a partial road closure
  • Two sections of the cycle route are also covered by these closures
  • These are not full road closures so there may be some traffic still on the roads
  • These closures are in place to increase the safety of the participants and marshals
  • Rules of the road will apply throughout
